Elijah’s 2009 Baseball Schedule Added to Calendar Page

As mentioned in my last post, Elijah's 2009 Baseball Schedule, I have just added Eli's baseball games and practices to the Calendar page.

Now upcoming games and practices will appear in the rightmost sidebar under Today's Events and Upcoming Events.

While viewing the Calendar page, hovering your mouse over an event will pop up a description of it. For some of these, such as baseball games, I have linked the event to the full schedule, so clicking on it will take you to a PDF version of the Dover Elks 2009 games and practice schedule.

Elijah’s 2009 Baseball Schedule

Yes, it's that time of year again, and baseball has begun! Elijah is on the Cal Ripken Minor League, playing for the Dover Elks.

I've put together a game and practice schedule in PDF format that you may download here. The field locations are links that you can click on to get directions to each field, in case you're not familiar with them. If I have time, I will populate the Calendar page with these events as well.

You can view the schedule, standings, or game results online at

His first game is versus Blier Flooring this Saturday, April 25th at 3:00 PM at Sullivan Field in Dover.

“Modem Tethering” Using Your Cell Phone

I found a link recently to an article about using your cell phone with your laptop (or desktop PC in a pinch) to get on the Internet. Maybe you're traveling and you can't find a Wi-Fi hotspot nearby, or you don't want to pay extra for Wi-Fi access somewhere, or maybe you can't afford to drop the money on a new wireless broadband card and services fees for your laptop.

If this sounds like you, then check out this article: How-To Roundup: Modem Tethering. Scroll to the bottom to select your phone type and download the appropriate software for free. (Note that you need to have a data plan with your cell service provider.)

The instructions worked out great for me and my Motorola V3m phone...

Photos Page Now Requires User Login

Please note that the Photos page has been updated so it now requires a valid login instead of just a static password.

If you don't have an account, you can sign up for free. You will receive an activation email containing a link that you need to click on to confirm your account... then you're all set.

If you forgot your existing password, click here to request a new one, or use the link in the sidebar. Just remember that if you send yourself a new password, it will likely be difficult to remember, so make sure to reset the password to one that you want (and can remember) the next time that you log in.

Reset WordPress Passwords Using phpMyAdmin

In my last post, I outlined the XAMPP program and what it can do. Unfortunately, I hit a bit of a bump in the road, and wanted to share with others how I got around it.

Once I installed XAMPP, set up a new local database for testing, extracted a fresh copy of WordPress in the new c:/xampp/htdocs/wordpress folder I created, I opened wp-config-example.php to add my database and account info, and then saved it as wp-config.php.

All good so far, right? Well, not exactly. To begin the WordPress installation, I pointed my browser to http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php
I entered my user name and email address and clicked on the next button.
